Recent juicy gossip on Butti (1893) & Novarese (1920), Nebiolo Printech
The Sopranos finale: What transpired at the end of the HBO series?
Aguzzo (“pointed” in Italian) is a typeface that combines geometry with transitional traits. Aguzzo acts as a contemporary nod to Alessandro Butti and Aldo Novarese’s Augustea (Fonderia Nebiolo) from 1951 – an engravers-style typeface based on the Roman capitals, notable for its triangular punctuation (a feature which is highlighted as an alternate character set in Aguzzo). The Roman style's sharp expression is mirrored in the steep 16° inclination of the Italic, while the introduction of a variety of broad-nib flourishes adds contrast between the styles. The typeface's occasionally unusual letterforms yet high degree of legibility makes Aguzzo suited for use in a multitude of sizes and contexts.
